Chris Jenkins (lead)

Chris Jenkins, his beautiful wife Anita (who sings the high tenor part with Joyful Noise) and their two children live in Ackerman, Mississippi.  Chris has been singing most of his life, both as a soloist and with groups from grade school through college, up to his current association as lead singer for Joyful Noise Quartet.  He has been with the group since its inception.

"I've always loved the four part harmony of good old fashioned quartet singing.  I got hooked on the sound while a member of Kathy King's Ackerman High School Quartet in the mid 80's.  Some of my fondest memories of that time were of the barbershop classics we learned to perform.  As I got older, I came to love the classic sound of Southern Gospel Quartet singing."

Chris and his family are members of Ackerman Baptist Church, where he serves as music director.  When he's not singing, Chris is employed as a claims adjuster for an insurance company in Starkville, Mississippi.

Anita Jenkins (tenor)

Anita Jenkins is married to her wonderful husband Chris (who sings lead with Joyful Noise). They have two great children and they all reside in Ackerman, MS.  Like Chris, Anita has been singing for most of her life. In fact, singing is what brought the two of them together. To make a long story short, they both moved away from and back to Ackerman because of work, went to choir for a Christmas cantata practice and Chris had not seen her in several years, asked her out and the rest is history.

“I remember as a child coming home from Sunday morning church service and watching the ‘Gospel Jubilee’ show and wishing one day that I could sing like that in a quartet.”

After receiving an associates’ degree in Computer Programming Technology from East Mississippi Community College and a bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University, she now teaches at Long Creek Elementary in Sallis, MS and McAdams High School in McAdams, Mississippi. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano, reading and playing with her children.

Perry King (bass)

Perry is the oldest member of the Joyful Noise Quartet. He attended the University of MS where he played football and graduated with a degree in business administration.  He then went to Monticello High School where he coached football and baseball for two years before returning to his former home, Ackerman, MS.  There, he and his dad formed King & Son Construction Co.  He has been in construction work since 1972.  He and his wife Linda have two sons, Reagan and Adam, and a daughters in law, Emily and LeAnn.  Both sons also played football for the Rebels.

Perry has always loved singing.  He sang in the Ackerman High School quartet under Madeline Wood, and has sung in the Ackerman Baptist Church choir ever since.  Perry, Chris, and Anita all sang in the Ackerman Baptist Church choir under the direction of Laverne Pickett.  They wanted to expand their musical horizons.  So, together, they decided to use their God given talents to “sing praises to the Lord, and make a joyful noise for all to hear.”

In addition to singing gospel music, Perry enjoys playing golf and watching football games.
